Estancia
La Paz is located in Ascochinga, in the province of Córdoba - a
place with a unique climate and scenery that blends with history and tradition.
Estancia La Paz was built in 1830 and subsequent additions to this building
were made in 1860 in a typical colonial style and in the late 1800s
his owner - Julio A. Roca who was twice President of Argentina
built an extension in an Italian Renaissance style. Estancia La Paz was
also one of the landmarks along El Camino Real (the Royal
route to Perú).
This
magnificent property is now a new alternative for those who are looking
for enjoyment and relaxation.
ROCA
AND ESTANCIA LA PAZ
This property once belonged to Julio Argentino Roca, who was twice president
of Argentina from 1880 to 1886 and from 1898 to 1904. From 1870 and until
the late 1930s Estancia La Paz was a privileged witness of the countrys
social and political life
Rocas
first presidential term initiated a period called El Orden Liberal.
Political life was predominantly led by a group of intellectuals of the
so-called Generación del 80, who introduced profound
changes in our country giving birth to a flourishing middle-class, which
in those times set Argentina apart from the rest of Latin America.
In
those days President Roca, who loved to spend some time away from the
Capital city, adopted La Paz as his favourite refuge, not only for his
own relaxation but also as a meeting place where some of the most important
politicians of those days were summoned to discuss state affairs. His
only son, who later became Governor of the Province of Córdoba
and who was elected Vice-President from 1932 until 1938 also chose La
Paz as his favourite place after his fathers death in 1914.
