SALTA AND JUJUY AREA: TOURISTIC CIRCUITS

SOUTHERN CIRCUIT
Total journey: 348 km. Duration: 6 hours

From Salta, taking the National Road N° 34, at the join of the Provincial Roads N° 5 and N° 20 you will reach "El Rey" National Park, back through the National Road N° 34, you will arrive at the city of Metan, that is characterized by its agricultural and cattle raising activities. After 14 kilometres inland you can get to "La Posta de Yatasto", a Historical National Monument. In this place, General San Martín, General Belgrano and General Güemes deliberated there about Independence. Back along the National Road N° 34 you will reach to Rosario de la Frontera, with its conspicuous economic agriculture, especially leguminous plants. Here you are only 7 km. from a marvelous Termal Center, which has got a nice hotel, allowing you to take advantage of its magnificent therapeutic waters.

WEST ANDES CIRCUIT
Total journey: 390 km. Duration: 12 hours

Campo Quijano can be reached by driving on the National Road N° 51, passing by this town and climbing a canyon you will ascend into one of the most important Pre-Columbian cities in South America. There you can find an impressive archeological site, terraced fields, and marvelous scenery. Back along the same road will arrive at San Antonio de Los Cobres. Named after from the "Sierra del Cobre" (Hill of Copper), which is probably due to its direct identification with the mineral deep within it: copper. This mining town is rich in history and tradition, where you can recognize our ancestor´s origin: the calchaquíes and Incas.
After leaving this town you will get to La Polvorilla Viaduct, a magnificent masterpiece of engineering, lying in the immensity of the desert landscape with its high mountains and dazzling sunsets.

TRAIN TO THE CLOUDS
This is one of the three highest railroads in the world. It seems to be hanging from the giddy mountains, the visitor feels as if he were hanging from the clouds. The train takes its way across some of the region´s most spectacular scenery, like the amazing landscape with its high picks.

NORTH EAST CIRCUIT
Total journey: 852 km. Duration: 14 hours

You can get there through the National Roads N° 9 and N° 34. Along this road you will find a great variety of interesting attractions like mountains covered with forest, aborigine´s communities with big production of their artisans, oil explotation from the rich petroleum deposits, farm with tropical plants like bananas, coffee, citrus, sugar-cane, etc. Besides this you have the opportunity to spend your time exploring Bolivia, crossing the frontier in Aguas Blancas (N.R.N° 50) and in Salvador Mazza (N.R. N° 34).
