Incredible expeditions to the southern Patagonian Ice Fields, Los Glaciares
National Park in Argentina. You never forgot this experience.

Season: October through April.
the expedition Size of group: 3 to 10 persons.
Grade: Difficult (We recommend aerobic training before the trip and experience
in camping is obligatory).
Lodging: Camps/hut on the ice field - In El Chaltén, the lodging
for overseas clients is in hotel - double bedded room.
Minimum: 2 passengers
Note: Previous technical experience with the use of crampons, snowshoes
or mountaineering skis is not required. We do request camping and trekking
experience. Equipment and food will be adapted to the type of program.
Participants must be self-sufficient in the set-up of camps and preparation
of meals.
The itinerary starts and ends at El Chaltén. Spare days will be
utilized in case of bad weather conditions that don't allow us to continue
the traverse on key days on the ice field.
ITINERARY DAY
BY DAY:
Day
1: Arrival to El Chaltén.
Welcome by the groups guide. Briefing about the Patagonian Ice Field and
features of the program. Details on the use of the equipment provided
by Fitz Roy Expediciones. Check out of equipment we'll carry with us during
the traverse. Dinner and Hostel.
Day
2: Trekking towards the base
of Marconi Glacier. Camp and full board. 6 hours walking approximately.
300 mts. (1.000 feet) elevation gain. Climb during the walk.
Day
3: Trekking over Marconi glacier
up to Paso Marconi (1500 mts., 4.875 feet) On this glacier trek will be
using crampons and at some point roping up. Impressive view of the ice
field and the mountain massifs of the area. Camp on the ice field. Full
board. Approximately 6/7 hours walking. 800 mts./2.600 feet elevation
gain.
Day
4: Trekking on the ice field
southbound up to the "Circo De Los Altares" at the foot of the
mythic Cerro Torre's west face. Use of snow shoes/ skis. Camp on the ice.
Full board. 6 hours walking.
Day
5: Trekking up to Refugio
Viedma, exit from the ice field (lateral moraine of Viedma Glacier). Camp
with access to mountain refuge. Full board. 8 hours walking.
Day
6: Trekking up to Paso Del
Huemul - around Cerro Huemul. Spectacular panoramic views down Glacier
Veda. Full board. 6/7 hours walking.
Day
7: Trekking down to Lago Viedma,
and boat return to El Chaltén. Dinner and hostel.
Day
8 -9: Spare days in case of
bad weather conditions.
What does the
price include?
- Mountain guides and assistant (more than 4 pax).
- Lodging in hostel, mountain tents or huts and meals as indicated in
the itinerary.

- Backpack With 70 Liter (4.300 cubin inch) capacity.
- Sleeping Bag Allowing -20 ºC (-5 F).
- Sleeping Pad (We Recommend Therm-A-Rest Type).
- Waterproof Leather mountaneering Boots (To Which Crampons Can Be Attached)
Or Double Plastic mountaneering Boots.
- Two Pairs Of Thick Synthetic Socks.
